I have set myself a goal to paint every day - generally in the evening after work. On most days I finish a 5 x 7 painting. Doing a small painting every day has helped me get over my inertia about painting. It also frees me to paint more subjects - if I am painting something new tomorrow I can experiment tonight. I have found so far that each day I see things that I want to paint. This has caused me to take a lot more pictures during the day with my iPhone.

Burr Oak in Winter - March 26 - 27
It is always fun to paint this tree. This time I did the sky, background and road first and let it dry overnight, then added the tree and foreground.
I am an amateur painter and work full time. I started painting about 10 years ago, taking a community education class. I have taken several workshops - most recently with Paul Jackson who is an exceptional watercolor artist. You can see his work at www.pauljackson.com. I have also taken two of his sketchbook tours - to Italy in 2008 and France in 2009.
